The 3 steps to unblock issues in your life
Today I want to share with you my reflection on how to open a locked gate, without a locksmith! We just have to follow the prophetic way and this brings the key to unlock the gate to our pocket.
1. Turn to Allah and call on Him
Allah Almighty says:
Or, who answers the distressed when he prays to Him, and removes adversity, and makes you successors on earth? Is there a god alongside Allah? How little you reflect. (27:62)
When we face a difficulty in our life, when something is blocked, the very first thing we have to do is to turn to Allah Almighty.
Whether you are a sinner or not, it does not matter. Allah Almighty is your first port of call.
Of course if you have done something wrong, it is even more critical for you to turn to Allah Almighty and repent. However don’t underestimate the need for this, even if you have not done anything wrong in your opinion.
If you are facing some difficulties and affairs in your life are blocked intractably, no matter what you try and even when you try your best, call on Allah Almighty. Allah has said in the Quran:
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ
And your Lord has proclaimed, “Pray to Me, and I will respond to you. But those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Hell forcibly.” (40:60)
Allah has promised to respond to the sincere call
Allah Almighty has promised to respond no matter how difficult the situation is and even when it seems it cannot be resolved. Call on Allah, regardless how severe the case is.
Call on Him with sincerity with your heart. Have a good opinion about Him and if you truly believe that only Allah Almighty can extract you from your situation and open the way, then He will.
If you have a shadow of doubt, some hesitation, a lack of trust or weakness in your imaan, your situation will not improve, and things will not go how you want. Therefore, have certainty that Allah Almighty will ease the way.
2. Do what you have to do to resolve your situation and clear the blockage
With the du’a, do your bit. Do whatever you have to do at your end to ease the situation and find a solution – whether it is to call a consultant, GP or lawyer, do what it takes. Dealing with the means does not mean that you are not relying on Allah Almighty.
3. Help someone in need
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be on him) said:
“A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. So he should not oppress him nor should he hand him over to (his satan or to his self which is inclined to evil). Whoever fulfils the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs; whoever removes the troubles of his brother, Allah will remove one of his troubles on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever covers up the fault of a Muslim, Allah will cover up his fault on the Day of Resurrection”. [Bukhari and Muslim].
Next, help someone who is in need. Go and offer your services and support to them, and you will find that Allah Almighty will open your way for you. If you look after their need, Allah Almighty will look after your need.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be on him) said:
Allah helps His servant as long as he helps his brother. (Muslim)
There is a clear connection between what you do for others and what Allah will do for you. Allah’s help is connected with your supporting others. Allah’s help will come if you help others. This is the key.
Sometimes we have a locked door, but the key is in our pocket. We can access it and then can unlock the gate.
Whatever is blocked in your life, the way forward is to make du’a with yaqeen (certainty), and support your brothers and sisters. Come back bi’idhnillah, and you will find that Allah Almighty will open the way for you.
We ask Allah for us always to be connected to him, we ask Allah for deep trust in him, we ask him to unlock the gates of goodness for us and facilitate the best for us and make us among those whom he accepted and those whom he bestowed mercy. Ameen.
