Believe and do good deeds

Allah Almighty says;

Unquestionably, [for] the awliya’ (those close to Allah) there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve

Those who believed and were fearing Allah

For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in the Hereafter. No change is there in the words of Allah. That is what is the great attainment. Yunus: 62-64

Allah Almighty confirms here that His chosen people who strive hard and steered clear of His prohibitions will have no fear or sadness on the Day of Judgement.

In dunya they will be tested, face challenges and go through calamities, but they will not be shaken by fear because they have full trust in Allah Almighty.

They will experience some sadness as that is part of being human but they will not have the sadness that controls you, overwhelms you or debilitates you.

(Unless they have mental health issues, then they will need help from specialists and medication to overcome this hurdle.)

Allah Almighty connected the description of His awliya’ with those who believe and those who practice taqwa.

In fifty ayahs, Allah Almighty mentioned ‘those who believe and those who do good deeds.’

*Imaan + Action = Success *

There is no imaan without action and action without imaan has no reward in the akhirah.

For success in the akhirah you have to have both.

Yes imaan is the key for entering jannah, but we also need action. Action is taqwa.

The definition of taqwa is ‘doing the commands and refraining from the prohibitions.’

Those who have taqwa are the obedient, (the mutaqeen). This raises them to the status of those who are close to Allah. They will have good news, as Allah says in Surah Baqarah:

When My servant asks you concerning Me, I am near. Al-Baqarah:186

The awliya’ are cheerful because they have internal peace and you see they are  accepting of whatever comes from Allah, even when it is bad. This does not mean they do not try to improve their situation, but they have internal satisfaction that whatever they experience is coming from Allah.

This is the great victory – when you can overcome fear and practice taqwa.

May Allah Almighty enable us to have imaan and taqwa, rida (acceptance) and no fear. May we be from those whom He loves.
